Founded in July 2017 by MaryKay Herzenach, Edgewood Womenade is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Edgewood Womenade works closely with the counselors and social workers at the Edgewood district’s schools. When a counselor or social worker have identified an emergency financial need, EW may be contacted with a request. Many of these families in need are already working beyond their ability to make ends meet. When a crisis occurs, EW may help ease financial burdens. The form of such financial burdens can take many forms, such as help to pay an electric or propane bill, groceries, gas, or even the purchase of wood to heat one’s home in the winter. There is no application process and the names of recipients are kept confidential. Because there is no application process, and through the unique vetting process given by counselors and social workers, funds may be quickly dispersed to service providers.
